Durga is the Goddess of extreme power. Goddess Durga destroyed Mohisasur. Durga Puja basically signifies the victory of good over evil. Prince Rama invocation of the goddess before going to war with the demon king Ravana. This autumnal ritual was different from the conventional Durga Puja, which is usually celebrated in the springtime. So, this puja is also known out of season "AKAL" worship "BODHAN". Thus goes the story of Lord Rama, who first worshipped the "MAHISHASURA MARDINI".
Durga Puja most joyous festival for sanatan community. Every year in the month of Ashwin comes this happy occasion. So its called Saradia Durgotsav. Verious names of this occasion are: Saradio Pujo, Sharodotsob, Maha Pujo, Mayer Pujo, Boro Pujo, Bhagabati Pujo etc.
Mahalaya is a kind of invocation or invitation to the mother goddess to descend on earth. Mahalaya is an auspicious occasion observed seven days before the Durga Puja.
Durga Devi stands on her lion, has 10 hands and has 9 weapons. Godess Durga kills Mahishasur with all these weapons. People create PROTIMA and feels Devi inside it. 6days of worshiping they let the Goddess to through Vijaya Dashami.
